Bosch angle grinder recall

Bosch Power Tools is undertaking a voluntary safety measure for a limited number of angle grinders.

The measure covers models of the GWS 20, GWS 22, GWS 24, PWS 20, PWS 1900 and PWS 2000 series which were manufactured between June and August 2016 as well as model GWS 24-230 JVX Professional with brake from the production period February to October 2016.

On the affected devices the cutting or grinding disc could become detached from the angle grinder due to a faulty component, which in rare cases could cause cuts or bruises. The manufacturer is not aware of any such cases up to this point.

In order to fulfil its responsibility to its customers, Bosch Power Tools has initiated this voluntary safety measure as a precaution. It covers around 85,000 devices which were sold primarily in Germany, Russia and France. GWS 24-230 JVX Professional devices which were repaired between January and November 2016 are also being recalled as a precaution.

Customers can check whether their angle grinder is affected on the website www.anglegrindercare.com. Alternatively, they can contact a call centre specifically set up for this purpose on the following toll-free number: 00800 83 646 704. Bosch Power Tools is offering a replacement or repair free of charge. Potentially affected devices must no longer be used or provided to others. Bosch Power Tools apologises for any inconvenience that this safety measure may cause.
