Lucas Skilbeck’s Rise in Junior Golf
4 Cladding Services, the UK’s largest specialist supplier of vacuum lifting equipment for composite roof, wall and glass panels, is supporting aspiring professional golfer Lucas Skilbeck through a junior golf sponsorship worth up to £1,000 through to 2027.
The 14-year-old from North Yorkshire is already making his mark in junior golf and is working towards his long-term ambition of becoming a professional golfer.
The sponsorship will help Lucas with the costs associated with competing, including tournament entry fees, equipment upgrades and accommodation when travelling to golfing events.
Supporting Junior Golf Sponsorship
For young golfers looking to develop their skills and compete at a higher level, the costs involved can quickly add up. Competition fees, equipment and travel can all present challenges for families supporting an aspiring athlete.
The junior golf sponsorship from 4 Cladding Services will provide Lucas with additional financial support as he continues to compete throughout the 2026 season and beyond.
Lucas is currently the Leeds & District Junior Matchplay Champion and has already enjoyed a successful season. He recently progressed through the quarter-final of the Leeds & District Junior Matchplay tournament, where he is defending his title. The semi-final is due to take place at Scarcroft Golf Club in September.
He has also finished second in the Yorkshire Boy Championship this season, missing out on first place by just one shot.
Lucas Skilbeck’s Junior Golf Journey
Lucas first picked up a golf club with his dad when he was just two years old. Since then, he has developed a strong record in junior golf, including winning the regional Wee Wonders Open Golf Championships in 2018, the Leeds & District Match Play Championships in 2025 and the Leeds & District Junior Strokeplay Championship in 2026.
At the age of six, Lucas began competing on the Robert Rock Junior Golf Tour, giving him an early introduction to competitive junior golf. He has also competed on the British Junior Golf Tour, a UK series supporting young players through organised competitions.
His progress continued at 11 when he was selected for the Yorkshire Union of Golf Clubs Boys Squad. The programme provides coaching, development opportunities and talent pathways for promising young golfers.
Lucas has since represented Drax Golf Club, The Oaks Golf Club & Spa and Selby Golf Club, continuing to build his experience at club, regional and national level.
Competing at National Level
Lucas has also competed twice in the English Boys’ Under 14 Open Amateur Championship, The Reid Trophy, one of England Golf’s leading junior tournaments.
His experience at national level forms part of a wider ambition to continue developing as a player before pursuing a professional career.
Following his GCSEs, Lucas plans to attend a golf college in the UK for two years. He then hopes to secure a scholarship at a golf college in the USA, where he intends to continue his development over four years.
How A Junior Golf Sponsorship Will Help
The cost of competing in golf can be significant, particularly when tournaments require players to travel and stay away from home.
Phil Skilbeck, Lucas’ father, explained that the support from 4 Cladding Services has already helped Lucas purchase new clubs needed for the season.
“Golf is a very tough sport and is extremely difficult as the standard of juniors nowadays is amazing. Lucas has always wanted to play on TV and in front of crowds. Golf is an expensive sport and the help we have got from 4 Cladding Services has enabled us to purchase some new clubs which Lucas desperately needed for this season.”
The junior golf sponsorship will continue to provide financial assistance through to 2027, helping Lucas meet some of the practical costs of competing and developing his game.
